    Founders Ivan Neville and Ian Neville (sons of both Aaron Neville and Art Neville respectively), along with Nick Daniels, Tony Hall, and Raymond Webber, were brought up in an atmosphere of sounds that have arguably become the most defining in all of New Orleans music. But don’t let the pedigree of lineage from the Meters and Neville Brothers fool you either. Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk now stands on its own as the legitimate torchbearer of all things funky both in New Orleans and beyond with the release of their debut EP, Listen Hear.

And perhaps they are… Rolling Stone says, “It’s about as badass as highbrow gets.” To which The Village Voice responds: “If the stars align, they will mow you down.” With a repertoire that includes covers by Led Zeppelin, Heart, Neil Young, Rush, and Queen it’s obvious the Bad Plus is talking jazz in the contemporary vernacular. But the question remains: Just how badass is the Bad Plus? Answer: They play Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man.”

A self-taught musician, KEM was born in Nashville and raised in Detroit, the birthplace of Motown Records. "I wanted to make music all of my life. I started playing piano when I was five," he recalls.

Both a live show and an NPR affiliate WBFO radio show, Critt’s Juke Joint brings jazz back home by pushing it forward. It incorporates the world’s best musicians, hip-hop artists and DJs and infuses them with Buffalo-bred improv jazz, funk and soul. It’s a funky good time ala-Critt, in that old-skool Juke Joint way!

    Performed by approximately 150 instrumentalists, vocalists, and dancers, the Duke Ellington Sacred Music Concert features acclaimed tap dancer Joseph Webb; the Pieces of a Dream Modern Dance Theatre; and several distinguished soloists, including vocalist Devonne Gardner (who soloed for Ellington when he debuted the Sacred Concerts) and 13-year-old A Sacred vocalist Halima Bleu of Wilmington (who performed the role of Nala in the Broadway production of The Lion King).

    John DiGiovanni formed Kombu Combo with four of the best musicians from the Wilmington area: saxophonist Frank McKitty, vibraphonist Norm Dorrell, guitarist Sean Holz and bassist Bob Colligan.“ They worked out a repertoire that ranges from Horace Silver and Miles Davis to Robert Palmer and Frank Zappa, plus our originals. Kombu Combo is currently in the process of recording their debut CD.
